COUNCIL MEETING  MINUTES

October 18, 2016

 

 

The special meeting of the Council of the Corporation of the Municipality of Magnetawan was held at the Magnetawan Community Centre on Tuesday, October 18, 2016 at 1:00 p.m.

 

Council members present: Mayor, Sam Dunnett; Deputy Mayor, Tim Brunton; Councillors, Jack Crossman, Charlie Gray, and John Hetherington.

 

Staff in attendance: Chief Building Official (CBO), Brian Horsman; Clerk-Administrator (C-A), Andrew Farnsworth.

 

Notice of this meeting was posted on the Municipal website and at the Municipal Office.

 

 

1. CALL TO ORDER

The meeting was called to order at 1:00 P.M.

RESOLUTION  2016-322

Moved by Councillor Brunton; Seconded by Councillor Crossman:

BE IT RESOLVED THAT the Council of the Municipality of Magnetawan adopts the agenda for this special Council meeting of Tuesday, October 18, 2016. (Carried)

2. ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT: set special meeting date to discuss BR+E Report

Council directed the C-A to purchase and distribute to Council hard copies of the Business Expansion and retention report, at which time Council will set a special meeting date to discuss the report.

  1. 3. CLOSED SESSION

RESOLUTION 2016-323

Moved by Councillor Hetherington; Seconded by Councillor Brunton:

BE IT RESOLVED THAT the Council of the Municipality of Magnetawan moves to a closed session at 1:04 P.M., pursuant to Section 239(2) of the Municipal Act, 2001, S.O. 2001, c.25, as amended, as the subject matter being considered is: (f)advice that is subject to solicitor-client privilege (being to receive legal advice). (Carried)

RESOLUTION 2016-324

Moved by Councillor Gray; Seconded by Councillor Brunton:

BE IT RESOLVED THAT the Council of the Municipality of Magnetawan returns to open session at 2:30 P.M. (Carried)

 

Council directed the CBO and the C-A to carry out instructions and to communicate with legal counsel as discussed in the closed session.

Moved by Councillor Crossman; Seconded by Councillor Gray:

BE IT RESOLVED THAT the Council of the Municipality of Magnetawan adjourns this meeting at 2:31 P.M. (Carried)
