FIRE PREVENTION OFFICER/DEPUTY FIRE CHIEF
Department: Fire Department Reports To: Fire Chief Classification: Full-Time, Non-Unionized
Salary: $67,274-$78,710 annually
The Fire Prevention Officer / Deputy Fire Chief (FPO/DFC) is a senior leadership role within the Municipality of Magnetawan Fire Department, supporting the Fire Chief in the delivery of fire protection, prevention, training, and community education services. The FPO/DFC ensures the department operates efficiently, safely, and in compliance with the Ontario Fire Code, Fire Protection and Prevention Act, and related legislation.
This position is responsible for conducting inspections, enforcing fire safety regulations, reviewing and approving fire safety plans, and implementing community risk reduction initiatives. The FPO/DFC also oversees training and professional development for volunteer firefighters, ensuring personnel meet current standards, maintain accurate records, and are prepared for emergency response. Acting as a mentor, the FPO/DFC fosters a culture of safety, professionalism, and continuous improvement within the department.
The FPO/DFC assumes full operational responsibility in the Fire Chief’s absence, including emergency incident command, departmental decision-making, and administrative oversight. This role also serves as a key liaison with the public, municipal council, and external agencies, delivering fire prevention education and representing the department with professionalism, leadership, and commitment to community safety.

ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT – GENERAL AND FINANCE
The Municipality of Magnetawan is currently seeking applications for the position of
Administrative Assistant – General and Finance with an anticipated start date effective immediately.
The Administrative Assistant – General and Finance is the primary customer service representative for the Municipality of Magnetawan and provides treasury, clerical, and related support to the Municipality. As such, Magnetawan requires a person with exceptional interpersonal skills, strong familiarity with accounting procedures, office technology and be a strong team player. Preference will be given to those applicants with a strong financial background.
The Administrative Assistant – General and Finance position offers an excellent introduction to municipal administration and treasury provides insight into the ways in which the Municipality of Magnetawan supports our residents and visitors.
This is a full-time unionized position of 35 hours a week, typically Monday to Thursday 8:00am – 5:00pm with a compressed work week at a rate of $29.00 per hour (as per CUPE Local 1813-11 C.A.) plus benefits and OMERS pension package.

OFFICE ASSISTANT - RECREATION AND RECORDS MANAGEMENT
The Municipality of Magnetawan is currently seeking applications for the position of Permanent Full-time Office Assistant – Recreation and Records Management
with an anticipated start date of: immediate
The Office Assistant – is responsible for assisting the Deputy Clerk Recreation and Communications and other departments as assigned. The Office Assistant – Recreation and Records Management will assist with the revitalization, development and coordination of all Municipal special events, recreation, and leisure programs. This position will also be responsible for overseeing and maintaining all Municipal Records including digitizing, archiving and retention and general office duties.
This is a permanent full-time unionized position of 35 hours a week, not including ½ hour unpaid lunch. Evening and Weekends will be required occasionally in this position. Rate of pay $25.00 per hour plus benefits and OMERS pension package as per CUPE Local 1813-11 C.A. As per the collective agreement, internal candidates will be considered first.

CASUAL ASSISTANT LANDFILL ATTENDANT
The Municipality of Magnetawan is seeking applications for the position of
Casual Labourer - Landfill (Unionized)
with an anticipated start date as soon as possible.
The Casual Labourer – Landfill is responsible for assisting with the operating, maintenance and development of the landfill sites while ensuring compliance with Workplace Health and Safety, environmental and municipal regulations, and policies. This position will work at both landfill locations on an as and when required basis and who has the right to refuse the request and will consult with the Landfill Foreman on all operational matters.
This is a casual position, Saturdays/Sundays and summer Statutory Holidays and may include weekdays as required. Hours generally between 8:00 am to 4:00 pm but may include after hours as required.
Rate is as per hour as per CUPE Local 1813-11 C.A.
