The 2026 Municipal Election will be held Monday October 26th! 

Electors in the Municipality of Magnetawan will once again have the convenience of choosing to vote by internet, telephone, mail or dropping off their ballot to the Municipal Office!

Call for Applications – Almaguin Area Joint Compliance Audit Committee

The Almaguin Area Joint Compliance Audit Committee is seeking four members to serve a four-year term from November 15, 2026 to November 16, 2030.

The Committee reviews audit requests related to campaign finances from candidates in the 2026 municipal election and any by-elections, representing 12 participating municipalities: Armour, Burk's Falls, Joly, Kearney, Machar, Magnetawan, McMurrich/Monteith, Perry, Ryerson, South River, Strong, and Sundridge.

Compensation:

✔️ $500 annual honorarium

✔️ $100 per meeting

✔️ Mileage reimbursed at CRA rates

Take the first step toward serving your community by attending our FREE Candidate Information Session on Thursday, April 16, 2026, from 6:00–8:00 p.m. at the Armour, Ryerson & Burk’s Falls Memorial Arena – Karl Crozier Community Hall (220 Centre Street, Burk’s Falls). 

Hosted by the Municipalities of the Almaguin Highlands, this engaging session will break down everything you need to know about the nomination process, financial filing requirements, campaign period rules, and the roles and responsibilities of members of council. 

Whether you’re seriously considering running or just exploring the idea, this session will give you the clarity and confidence to decide your next steps.

2022 Municipal Election Stats

2022's election saw a participation rate of 31.7%.  

There were 3,389 eligible voters.  

573 votes were cast via internet/phone and 596 were cast via mail in ballot.

Of the 1,169 ballots received -  8 ballots were ‘Spoiled’ via internet/phone, and 6 ballots were ‘Rejected’ during the manual count of the mail in ballots.

Total Active Ballots 1,155
