Hiking Trails

Snowshoeing, Cross Country Skiing, Hiking and Mountain Biking

The Trans Canada Trail winds its way through the area; the Sequin Trail from Fern Glen to Sequin Falls, and the Old Nipissing Road north to Magnetawan and beyond, are now part of the Trans Canada Trail. The Old Nipissing Development Road (originally built in the 1840s) is now the main street of the Village of Magnetawan. It originally ran from Rosseau to Nipissing and was the only route by road to the north. It has since fallen into disuse. However, there are many ghost towns, old cemeteries, and abandoned farms to see. Many of the original settlers came this way before the railways were built. Route signs along this road lead from Sequin Trail at Sequin Falls to Commanda at Highway 522. This road is excellent trail for hiking or mountain biking.

We have six area trails, some are private but accessible to the public with just a phone call. These trails wind through some of the most magnifcent country that can be found in Ontario. See wildlife: Deer, Moose, Squirrels, Beaver, Muskrat, Bear, Rabbits, Song Birds, Ducks, Geese, Loons and many more too numerous to mention. There are wildflower and trees. And Mother Nature at her best. Do not miss a chance to enjoy our area, come out and enjoy, summer, winter, spring and fall.
